Meetings

Meeting notes template with action items

The point of meeting notes isn't a record of who said what. It's the list of decisions and promises: who will do what, and by when. This template puts that table at the center of the page so nothing agreed in a meeting gets lost.

What's on the page

The Meeting Notes & Action Tracker is a small set of printable pages that work together.

  • Meeting Capture: notes, decisions, and a promises table with action, owner, due date, check-back date and a done box.
  • 1:1 & Recurring Meeting: collect topics between meetings so your next 1:1 has an agenda before it starts.
  • Follow-Through List: every open promise from every meeting on one page.
  • Waiting On: what other people owe you, and when to check back.
  • A filled-in example and a lined notes page, in Letter, A4 and A5, with a low-ink copy.

A simple routine that works

During the meeting, write decisions and actions as they happen, not afterwards. Give every action an owner and a date before the meeting ends. Then spend two minutes after the meeting moving anything you own to your Follow-Through List and anything you're waiting for to Waiting On.

Once a week, read both lists. Close what's done, chase what's late, and bring anything stuck to your next 1:1.

Part of a bigger kit

The meeting notes pages are also inside the New Manager Toolkit and the Project Management Bundle. If you need more than meetings, one of those is better value.
